Best chore app for couples: six listings sorted by how they measure a fair split
The best chore app for couples is the one whose idea of fair matches yours: Homsy if you want effort weighed, Tody if you want cleaning due dates and optional chore rotation, Flatastic or Nipto for a plain shared list. We read six chore apps off their App Store listings on October 2, 2026, and sorted them by what each one counts. Two people splitting a home argue about the count, not the reminders.

In short
Weighs each chore by effort and tells you if the week split evenly: Homsy. Tracks cleaning due dates, with optional assignments and household contribution reports: Tody. A shared list with a price for one person or for both: Flatastic.
Nipto and Sweepy sit between them, and Chap sells an admin feature, which a couple of equals does not need.
What the best chore app for couples has to do
Two adults who share a home do not need someone to hand out jobs. They need to see the same picture and agree on what counts.
- It shows both of you the same list. No parent account, no admin.
- It counts something you both accept. Jobs, minutes, effort or points.
- It stays cheap for two. Several apps price by household size.
Alpacto is our own app, so it gets no row: our own listing would prove nothing. It appears once, at the end.

What each chore app for couples actually counts
Count the jobs and the person with the many small ones loses. Count minutes or effort and a two-hour laundry day finally weighs more than the trash.
Homsy is the only listing here whose maker says it weighs effort. Its article describes it as telling you “whether the week split evenly” and, in the same article, says the app is free for a household of two, checked on September 24, 2026. That is the maker describing its own app, so read the free tier on the listing before relying on it.
Tody tracks when cleaning is due. Its official website also describes assigning chores or rotating them automatically. Premium+ adds shared household plans, contribution targets through FairShare and monthly reports of completed work. Those features were checked on the maker’s website on October 6, 2026; the store figures in the table remain the October 2 snapshot.
Sweepy turns the split into a score and a leaderboard. That works until the question stops being who did more and becomes who agreed to do what.
The six, one by one
Homsy
The newest and smallest audience here: 31 ratings, so its 4.8 is a first impression, not a verdict. It was built on September 29, 2026, three days before we read it, and its yearly plan is $19.99.
Nipto
Its listing title says what it does: Split Chores. Its price list prints three Premium lines at $1.99 monthly, $12.99 annual and $17.99, so check which one you tap. 882 ratings, built on September 28, 2026.
Flatastic
Its description names partners next to roommates and family. It also sells Premium for one at $18.49 a year, Premium for everybody at $34.99 a year and Premium for everyone at $6.49 a month. The listing does not say what the second person sees on a one-person plan, so check before paying.
Tody
Cleaning is organized by when each task is due, and chores can be assigned or rotated. Premium+ adds household sync and contribution tracking. The October 2 store snapshot records 4.8 from 11K ratings.
Sweepy
Cleaning by room with the work split between residents and a leaderboard. At $19.99 a year it matches Homsy, but its last iPhone build is from February 2026.
Chap
Rotating chores, reminders and a calendar, with the same yearly plan printed at $39.99 and $49.99 on one listing. Its listing sells an admin feature, which is the one thing a couple of equals can do without.
What two people pay
For a couple the yearly lines are close. Homsy and Sweepy both print $19.99 a year, Nipto $12.99, and Flatastic $18.49 for one person or $34.99 for everybody.
The arithmetic is ours: if only one of you pays Flatastic’s one-person plan, it is $18.49 a year, and splitting Nipto’s $12.99 comes to $6.50 each.
Tody prices by household. For two people its Duo tier at $24.99 is the line to compare with Flatastic’s $34.99 for everybody. The two side by side: Nipto vs Tody.
Skip a subscription altogether and agree the split on paper: a chore chart for adults has a row per job and a place for both initials, and the chore split calculator divides the work by minutes. Questions people ask
What is the best chore app for couples?
Homsy if you want effort weighed, because its maker says it tells you whether the week split evenly, and Tody if you want cleaning due dates with optional assignments and rotation. Pick by what you argue about: the count or the reminders.
What is the best free chore app for adults?
Every app in the table has a free download and a paid plan on top, so what free covers differs. Homsy says in its own article that it is free for a household of two; check that on its listing.
What is the best app for shared housework?
For a shared list, Flatastic, which prices one person separately from the whole home. For cleaning by room, Tody or Sweepy.
What is a good chore schedule for couples?
One where every job has an owner and a day, and the totals are compared in minutes once a week. A printed chore chart for adults does that without an app.
When the two of you agree
Alpacto turns a chore into a pact both of you signed: what counts as done, by when, and what it is worth in coins. One marks it done, the other confirms, and nobody is the admin of the house.
