In short
Write down what you want to do together, five things per section, and put a date in Done on the day each one happens. Pick a Look back on day a year out.
The sections keep the list from turning into 30 trips you can’t afford: At Home and Learn Together hold things you can do this month. Ideas for every section are below.
What is on this bucket list template for couples
Six sections
Adventures, Travel, Food and Drink, At Home, Learn Together, Traditions. Each has a hint, such as “A little outside our comfort zone”.
Done on
A date column next to every line, so the list shows what you have already done.
Started on, Look back on
Two dates in the header: the day you wrote the list and the day you review it together.
Photos from our list
Three boxes at the bottom, each marked “Tape a photo here”.
The example: 23 lines written, 5 done in five weeks
Nia and Mateo, in Chicago, start their list on September 6, 2026, and set Look back on for the same day a year later. They fill 23 of the 30 lines and leave seven blank for ideas that come up later.
The first things they cross off are not the big ones. They paint the bedroom green on 9/13 and paddleboard at sunrise on 9/19. Fresh pasta follows on 9/26, Nia’s mom’s jollof rice on 10/4, and a long weekend in Montreal ends on 10/12.
The northern lights and the hot air balloon are still waiting. That is how the sections are meant to work: a few dated lines in the first month keep a list on the fridge instead of in a drawer.

Five Done on dates in the first five weeks; the northern lights are still waiting.

From a line on the list to a date in the calendar
- Pick one line per month. Take turns choosing, so the list is not one person’s wishes.
- Write the first step. For “Take a salsa class” that is finding a studio, not the whole course.
- Name who books it. A line with no owner stays a line.
- Fill in Done on the same day. Tape the photo in when it’s printed.
A blank line is fine. Nia and Mateo left line 5 empty, and in one of our scenes it gets filled in later. Keep a date bucket list for small outings on the same page: dinners and classes count as much as trips.

Line 5 under Adventures, written in later.

Questions people ask
What are some good bucket list items for couples?
Ones you can put a date on. A bucket list for a couple works when a few big trips sit next to things you can do this month, like painting a room or learning to change a tire. The sheet has six sections so the list stays mixed.
What is the 7 7 7 rule for couples?
It is a rule of thumb about how often to go on dates and trips away, with no study behind it that we know of. A bucket list answers a different question: what to do on those dates.
What is the top 10 bucket list?
There is no shared top 10; a list copied from someone else is the one that stalls. Start with three lines you can finish within a month, the way the example does.
Is a couples bucket list book better than a sheet?
A book holds more pages; a sheet on the fridge gets seen every day. This one fits 30 lines, and when it is full you print a second page.
What goes in Traditions on a bucket list for relationships?
Things you want to repeat every year, as the sheet says. In the example: a first-snow walk, a pumpkin carving night and anniversary letters.
Can we fill it in on a computer?
Yes. The fillable PDF takes typing in all 63 fields; the photo boxes stay for paper.

When a line needs a date and an owner
Alpacto is our own app, and there a line from the list becomes a task pact for the two of you, with who does it and when it is due. One of you marks it complete, and the other confirms. That confirmed day is your Done on.
